History of Life Church

Article Pic The first meeting of our church was at the corner of Los Robles and Orange Grove in
Pasadena in the early 1940's. From there the church relocated to the corner of
Rosemead and Del Mar in East Pasadena. This was during the Second World War, and
on a number of occasions there were blackouts during the services. The pastor of the
church during these early years was Bro. David Gray. It was not long until Bro. Clyde
Haney became the pastor. Both of these men are known worldwide as pioneers of the
Pentecostal Message. The current property and building was secured and erected
under the pastorate of Bro. Haney. There were some key saints, such as Bro. Charles J.
Goodwin, who helped in the securing of the property and the building of the facility. The
basement of the church was completed first, and services were held there temporarily.
The building was constructed from used lumber, and the ladies and older children pulled
out nails during the day so the men could use the wood for construction in the evenings.
The building was constructed, using mostly
volunteer labor, during the Second World War.

Over the years, the blessings of God have been upon this congregation. Many saints
and Godly leaders cantrace their roots through Pasadena UPC. Even the General
Superintendent of the United Pentecostal International, Bro. Kenneth Haney, received
the Holy Ghost in this church. God has blessed this Church with many fine pastors over
the last 60 years. The list of former pastors includes Odell Thorton, Rev. Hunnicutt,
Albert Cagle, Edgar Langford, Jr., Jessie Arnold, James Silvernale and Frances Mason.
In 1977, Rev. Euell Watts, Jr. assumed the pastorate of the Pasadena UPC. From 1977
until March of 2003, Bro. Watts faithfully
led a fine congregation of believers. During his pastorate, many were baptized in Jesus
name, Filled with the Holy Ghost, and formed into mature disciples.

In April of 2003, Rev. and Mrs. Richard A. Brown were joined to the Pasadena UPC
family, assuming the roleof pastor. Pastor Brown comes with a burden for lost souls and
a vision for the future of the church. Certainly, the best days for the Pasadena United
Pentecostal Church are ahead of us.

In 2005 the name of the church was changed to Life Church. The Year 2006 it was furbished and dedicated.
